Slowly, ever so slowly, my new home is coming together.
The addition of these fresh flowers really was a nice touch.

They were an I’m sorry gift from Abby, with a little help from her dad.
Why? Because I spent a few hours unpacking and organizing her room while she was playing at a friend’s (the advantage of moving “back-home”). When she walked in and saw the fruits of my labor she screamed “I hate it!” and burst into tears. You see, the lamp was no longer in the corner. She wanted it in the corner. Needed it in the corner. I had put it next to the bed where she could use it without getting up. (An arrangement which, upon reflection, she now loves.)
Her little OCD brain was overloaded at all the changes and Dad thought it best get her out of the house; they took a little trip to Costco and brought home those lovely roses.
I had to pull the vase out of one of my “Go to Goodwill” boxes.
All of these things are going to charity:

In anticipation of this move , we did get rid of a whole lot of things, mostly furnishings. But in getting here, I’ve discovered that we did not let go of enough. There simply is not the storage for all this stuff. And, truth be known, none of it is really important.
It is a good feeling to free myself from all of these things. I only want to have things in my home that are useful, beautiful, or loved. It’s amazing how much falls into other categories.
I do not need five plastic spatulas.
I do not need the ugly pillows that came with my couch and have spent all their life with me in a closet.
I do not need all of the twig balls I got from my good friend Tara, but some of them are in a pretty jar on my bookshelf. (Hi Tara.)
I do not need the crystal from my wedding that I only used a handful of times and never really liked.
I do not need so many extra towels and blankets.
I do not need two large vases for flowers, but apparently I do need one. Just in case.

How do you have goodwill boxes? I thought you already did your major cleanse?
I am glad “abby” got used to her room. Does the house fairy have any pull in furniture arrangements anymore?
I laughed out loud to see my “twig balls” got a cameo appearance in your blog! Hey, Im honered (and suprised) they made it all the way to Oregon! They are a decorating phenomenon and mystery! Miss you guys but enjoy keeping up with you (and the twig balls) on your blog!!
Tara
Well, flowers may not “fix” everything, but they sure do make the room brighter. Enjoy them. They’re beautiful.
