*I'm only posting this because I want an Atari

Introduction:
As many thousands tens of loyal readers have noticed, I’ve been a bit under the weather this last week.
I am feeling much better now. Thanks for the cards, flowers, and candlelight vigils asking.
Although I was able to spend many glorious hours clutching my stomach in agony sleeping on the couch, there were a few things that I felt I just had to do.
On Saturday, I thought that I was feeling well enough to take my daughter to the school sock-hop.
I know. I’m just that good.
I went because attending was really important to her. (I even offered her money to stay home, but she wasn’t interested.)
And also because at this point in the progression of the demon virus that resided in my body and soul, I was mostly just tired. And congested. But that was about to change.

Without further ado, I present for your reading pleasure:
Sock hop
Would someone please tell that girl that a sock hop does not mean you can’t wear shoes?

Things started out fine. There was a live band. And there was dancing.
sock hop
And there was, um, more dancing.

The dancing got wild as the evening wore on. The following photo was taken approximately 18 minutes in.
Sock hop
And then there was this:
beauty at the sock hop
The double chins are surely a manifestation of my illness. Swollen glands or something.
About 30 seconds later I stopped dancing and ran to the bathroom. And as I considered the tiny grade school toilet for the purpose of which I was to use it, I realized that I was really feeling quite ill.
Which is why we abandoned the sock hop after only 34 minutes.
And I spent the rest of my life on the couch.
The end.

My daughter would say, “why do I have to wear shoes to a SOCK hop”. I can hear her now. So in my 6 year old’s mind it would make sense not to. Cute pics.

Aw. No one told you that the literal tranlation of ‘sock hop’ is really ‘sick hop’? Oops. Sorry you got sick, but you get extra bonus points for going anyway. That’s what we wimmins do, though.
