Rootin' Tootin' Valentine

The best most memorable Valentine I ever got was from Billy Sucow in the second grade. It looked something like this:

And said “Cowgirl, you’re terrific!”
Being the daughter of a “real cowboy”, I remember feeling so impressed. After all, how was Billy to know I was half-cowgirl?

What Valentines do you remember?

    I still have some.
My senior year my boyfriend gave me a huge card and a heart shaped box of candy and flowers. I still even have the heart shaped box.

Very cute! My husband sent me 3 little pink rosebuds in a tiny, spiral-shaped vase…..when he was 16 :) . It was a very Big Deal. That same year I received a dozen yellow roses from another boy – it was Very Awkward. Now I get cards that say I Love You Wow! ‘Cause she makes her M’s upside down. And roses from my husband – who is now 46 :)

For some reason I am totally blank on this question. I do remember my favorite ones I made. When I was really little I took some lace, felt and regular school paper and made some felt hearts and lacy rainbows and glued them on the paper. I snuck these with a little I love you message and placed it under my parents pillows. While going through my dads things after he died I found the one I made him, still kept in his bedside dresser.

This years valentines day will forever be in my memory due to the fact that my son graduated from Army Basic Training in South Carolina and I was able to be there and see it happen. A Valentines Day I wish I could forget about happened in High School, my boyfriend at the time went all out with flowers, candy and a nice card. What he didn’t know at the time was that I was planning on breaking up with him because I was secretly dating another guy. It ended up being very ugly the next day when someone spilled the beans. The other guy is still in my life, we are going on 27 years of marriage, but I still feel bad about the deception.
